I am SO thankful and appreciative for all or the wonderful people who come into my life. One of those people is the amazing Sazzy Lee Varga. Sazzy is not only a top model and actress…she is also a huge philantrhpist. Sazzy is the Co-Founder of the Tibetan Photo Project. This is what she had to say about my book, “The 7 Steps To Amazing Health!”
I was thrilled to read “7 Steps To Amazing Health” Dr. Wendy understands that the body, mind and spirit need to be healthy to truly achieve the highest level of health and well-being. Simply working out or eating right alone will not do it. Dr. Wendy’s book is very easy to follow and very inspiring. Thank you for this!”

I’m always so incredibly thankful when such kind and wonderful people like the amazing Lisa Guerrero take the time out of their extremely busy schedules to write a testimonial for my book. Here is what Ms. Guerrero had to say:
We live in a “quick fix” society…fad diets, 3 day cleanses, lunchtime “facelifts”, etc.
The beauty of Dr. Wendy Schauer’s “The 7 Steps To Amazing Health” is
that it approaches well being as a lifetime goal, not an overnight
antidote. This book is a must read for anyone who wants to live a
happier, healthier and more productive life!

These days there are things we call food that really aren’t food. They have a name of Frankenfoods. You know them. They come in colors that you never see in nature, they are in the middle isles of the store, they have a shelf life of 100 years, they taste GREAT and are extremely addicting. Just try eating one Oreo or one Doritos. I bet you can’t.
There are foods we eat everyday that we have no idea what they are doing to us. If you hare having health problems – pain, stiffness, swelling, inflammation, allergies, sinusitis, hypoglycemia, diabetes,… – you need to pay attention to your diet.
Here are some common problem foods and their possible reactions:
WHEAT – allergies, stomach pain, digestive disorders, IBS, colitis, sinus problems, pain and inflammation.
DAIRY – allergies, sinus problems, chronic cough, inflammation, pain, ear infections in children, heart disease, constipation.
SUGAR (cakes, cookies, candy…) – frequent colds, anxiety, increased triglycerides, increased bad cholesterol, increased cancer risk, pain, inflammation, diabetes, tooth decay, osteoporosis, heart disease, eye problems, high blood pressure, increased risk for Alzheimers.
COFFEE – inflammation, pain, insomnia, anxiety, headaches, increased blood pressure, increased cholesterol, increased risk of bladder cancer, increased PMS symptoms.
Unfortunately most Americans have these substances as their mainstay. I know for myself sugar gives me hives, coffee worsens my sinus problems and gives me joint pain and wheat gives me hives, fatigue, pain and overall inflammation.
Be aware of how food affects you. If you have a lot of pain and inflammation trying going without these foods/drink for two weeks and see how you feel.
Stress is such a small word that means so much. We are living in tough times right now and I know for myself and in my patients that stress can cause physical problems (pain, tightness, hives, stomach aches, headaches, colds, anxiety, depression, ….).
How did we get to a point that our stress levels are at a 7-8 (0=no stress 10=severe stress)? What I do know is that it is our interpretation of stress that gets us in trouble. It is our expectation of what SHOULD happen or how things SHOULD go or how people SHOULD act. I expect people to treat others with respect and kindness and when this doesn’t happen I get angry. This certainly doesn’t work for me.
There are many self-help gurus out there that say What is Is. We need to go with the flow more and stop placing so much emphasis on the outcome. We need to do our best and not worry about being perfect. Remember we are humans having a human experience. Why is it we will tolerate a computer not functioning right but not another human. We have glitches too. So what if it takes a couple extra minutes at the drive through at Starbucks, ultimately how is that going to ruin your life?
So now what do we do about it?
***Play more – do what you love to do – camp, hike, run, bike, paint, knit,…
***Exercise – there is something out there for everyone you just need to find it.
***Sleep – get your 8 hours of sleep. Reduced sleep makes everything in life worse.
***Laugh more – get those endorphins released.
***Re-frame how you see things – unless it is truly life and death it most likely isn’t
as bad as we think. Most people see the worst. They think any mistake is going
to be the end of the world. Most mistakes are fixable and even the ones that
aren’t don’t mean much in 5 years.
***Deep breathe a lot!!
***Slow down and enjoy life more. When you walk look at the flowers and trees.
Don’t rush by them. These are the things that matter.
